Rural clinical internships and rotations

FORWARD NM rotates approximately 60 learners per year from various disciplines including Family Medicine Residency, medical students, dental students, nurse practitioner students, and physician’s assistant students. College application & scholarship support

Program staff are available to schedule individual time with students as requested to assist in developing a plan that will lead to their desired health career. This specialized service is provided to assist students in getting the individualized attention in the areas most needed; for example application completion, writing a personal statement as part of an application, identifying scholarship and other financial opportunities, and more. NM AHEC Scholars Program

AHEC Scholars program is for health professions students that focuses on giving the students additional education and experience in rural & underserved communities. This is a 2 year longitudinal program with interdisciplinary curricula to implement a defined set of clinical, didactic, and community-based activities. This program includes 160 hours (80 per year) of clinical and education hours. As of right now we offer QPR: Suicide Prevention and Lupus Education trainings in all four of our service area counties – Grant, Hidalgo, Luna and Catron!
