Southwest Center for Health Innovation (CHI) partners with Western New Mexico University (WNMU) in Silver City, New Mexico to help prepare local children and young adults for the health workforce and increase the number of students and residents being trained in the community. WNMU works under contract with SWCHI’s FORWARD NM Program and the University of NM Office for Diversity to host three summer academies:
- SMASH Academy (Summer, Math and Science & Healthcare) for incoming 9th grade students;
- HCA (Health Careers Academy) for incoming 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students;
- MCAT+ Academy (Medical College Admissions Test) prep for prospective medical students.
